The Pact

When Brian and I went to Seattle I knew that I wanted to bring a book along to read on the plane. I had picked up a few books several months ago from a book exchange my work sponsored and scored a couple Jodi Picoult books. I had always heard that she was a great writer but I hadn’t gotten the chance to read any of her books. So I decided that I would bring along The Pact with me as my reading material. What I didn’t realize was how much I would cry reading the first half of the book on the plane! I was trying to be inconspicuous about it and luckily I was by the window and only Brian was next to me. I don’t like crying in public, especially while reading a book!!

The quote on the front of the book from People describes it perfectly. “Picoult has a remarkable ability to make us share her characters’ feelings of confusion and horror…The Pact is a compelling read.” The pictures that she “painted” with her words were very thought evoking and I felt myself being transported to those scenes like I was reliving them in my mind. I love books like that!! I could tell while reading The Pact that Picoult had done her research and I was very pleased to find on her website that she indeed had done her research, even going as far as visiting a jail, talking to attorneys and getting a group of 16 year old girls together and asking them some REALLY REALLY tough questions.

I could not put this book down! I read over half of it on our flight to Seattle, read a little bit during some down time there and then rest all but the last two chapters on the flight back and finished those before bed that night! I was so drawn in and couldn’t wait to find out how it ended. This book was definitely very thought provoking as well. It makes you take a step back and just think!

***I did have this posted yesterday but apparently with all of blogger's issues my post was LOST.  BOO!!! anyway I am backdating it!  Good thing that I had it saved as a draft before I posted it.

My name is Sonya and I am married to a wonderful man who is truly my best friend. I am the proud mommy of Lauren and our newest addition Colton! I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook and I am a photography enthusiast. I also love to be around my large extended family. I have 4 nieces and 5 nephews.

Brian, is my wonderful loving husband. My best friend and the father of my children. He loves being a daddy, boxing, Muay Thai and working out.

Lauren is our 4 year old daughter. She loves her Daddy, running and being outside. She also is a big fan of "neighs" (horses). She amazes me everyday at all the new words that she can say and the new things she is learning. It blows my mind the things that she comes up with. She is such a great kid!

Colton, AKA, Little Man, is our newest addition to the family. He has brought us so much joy. Right now he loves to eat, sleep and is learning to walk. Colton was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 6 weeks old and has been wearing a Pavlik Harness since 7 weeks. He wore the harness full time for 8 weeks and then part time for 6 weeks for a total of 14 weeks. Having hip dysplasia hasn't slowed him down one bit. He can crawl and has recently started walking
